Jared Porter, chef and one of the founding owners of Clever Koi, officially parted ways with the restaurant in May, according to management at the Phoenix location of the popular spot, which also has a location in Gilbert.

Nick Campisano remains the restaurant's general manager, and Joshua James still is at the helm of the bar program. (Both are owners.) One of Porter's proteges is said to be taking over the kitchen, where he will continue cooking Porter's menu, for the time being.

We're trying to get in touch with Porter, and we'll keep you posted when we learn more.

UPDATE:

Nick Campisano and Joshua James, co-owners of The Clever Koi, issued a statement of support for Jared.
“We wish Jared the very best. The culinary program will continue to reflect our collaborative team approach, and it’s business as usual,” they said.

It looks like Jared Porter will now be expanding his role with Evening Entertainment Group as their new Culinary Director, for which he will oversee the menus and kitchens of 10 of the group's concepts over three states. As to his time at Clever Koi, he stated, “My time at Clever Koi has been transformative in the best ways possible, and I wish Nick, Josh, and the rest of the team the best as they forge on."
