Following a three-and-a-half year run, Modern Steak closed rather suddenly on Saturday night.

"What??? This was one of my favorite restaurants!" A comment on Modern Steak's Facebook page read. "No notice for your loyal guests so they could come by one last time before you closed . . . Boooooo."

Eschewing the steakhouse cliché, Modern Steak featured a fashionable, airy atmosphere with a menu highlighting prime-aged beef and seafood selections as well as playful appetizers and desserts including a footlong Kobe beef hot dog and a platter of mini-cupcakes.

Modern Steak's closure comes two months after another major shuttering in the Scottsdale Fashion Square: that of the five-year-old Grand Lux Cafe, the globally inspired restaurant from the creators of the Cheesecake Factory.

A farewell post on Modern Steak's Facebook page had this to say:

"After a three-plus year run in the Valley, we have permanently closed the doors at Modern Steak as of May 25th. We are grateful to our loyal guests, who we hope to serve at our other restaurants, and our exceptional staff, who you will see at one of our other locations.

See you soon, Fox Restaurant Concepts"

Still to open this year are Fox's "life changing" fast-casual health restaurant (no name yet) and, the Republic reports, an "American brasserie" called the Henry. Both are located in Arcadia.
