The people in the Jelly Belly flavor development center must be bored -- like, really bored. Flavors such as moldy cheese, rotten egg, and skunk spray, along with the popular Harry Potter-inspired line of "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans," push the envelope of what people really want in candy. There are even "sport beans," which claim to "refill your energy levels" in similar flavors to Gatorade, Powerade, and Vitamin Water. However, the announcement that Jelly Belly will soon release draft beer-flavored jelly beans could either be delicious or weird.

Since Jelly Belly already has classic cocktail flavors like margarita and mojito, booze-inspired candy is not new territory for the company. However, a draft beer flavor could really vary depending on what beer inspires it. If it's draft Pabst, they can keep their candy beans.
According to Jelly Belly's website, Parade ran a poll asking if people would try the new flavor and 68% said they would. The Beeroness, craft beer blogged Jackie Dodd, even created an infographic of suggested ways to blend jelly bean flavors to simulate craft varieties. Two draft beer beans plus one cappuccino bean is a coffee porter and two beer beans with one orange sherbet bean is an orange wheat beer. The new flavor will be available online and in stores on February 10.
