So we’re approaching Halloween, and I remember the days before kids, when the party was definitely more adult – great costumes, great bars and great food. And with Halloween on a Friday this year, I have a feeling it’s going to be crazy. But the key to having a good night is getting some food in your belly before the binge begins. So here are my suggestions for you to eat, drink and be scary.

Go to AZ Wine Co. for Wine, Dine & Sexy Time, from 6 to 8 p.m. Divine Wines will be there (one of my favorites) and will pair delicious whites and reds wines with great food. Not to mention prizes will be awarded for the best male and female (preferably sexy) costumes. Or go to Stone Rose, the Randy Gerber lounge at the Fairmont Scottsdale, for its Haunted Hotel event. There’s no cover charge, and the food comes from the much-celebrated Bourbon Steak. With appetizers like Black Truffle Popcorn & Chives, and American Kobe Sliders, your belly won’t be horrified.

Chef Eddie Matney is the owner of Eddie's House in Scottsdale.
