Located at 5210 North Central Avenue in Central Phoenix, in the historic First Federal Savings & Loan building, Federal Pizza will join three of Upward Project's other restaurants in the neighborhood: the casual and patio-awesome restaurant and ice cream shop Windsor & Churn and the wine bar Postino Central.
Federal's pizzas come courtesy of MJ Coe, bread master and husband of notable sweets maker Tammie Coe, who designed all 11 of the menu's wood-fired creations. There's also a build-your-own option with toppings like roasted fennel, Castelvetrano olives, and goat cheese.
Like the pizza, Federal's beverage program is unique as well. The entire menu of beer and wine will be available to be picked up to go and at a discount. Guests can enjoy a list of seasonal and progressive wines or small-batch craft beer selections that, if on tap, can be put into custom growlers for the ride home.
Federal's building design will feature a mid-century feel with modern touches. There's even a pick-up window in place of the bank's old drive-thru lane. Inside, diners can belly up to a 30-foot-long butcher block bar, sit around the pizza oven, and stare at the sky thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights.
