Cobbler on Quack at Cowboy Ciao

There's no better dessert (not even pumpkin pie) to put you in the mood for fall. Country Velador, pastry chef at Cowboy Ciao, came up with this genius pairing: traditional apple cobbler with duck fat ice cream. Based on taste alone, you'd never guess that duck fat is the secret ingredient that makes this one of the best desserts in town. The ice cream is incredibly rich and buttery, making this a fast favorite for fans of butter rum. As for the cobbler, the apples are sliced nearly paper thin, the crumble topping is tender yet crispy, and it has a sweet, traditional flavor that doesn't hold back on the cinnamon. More, please.

Brunch & Bazaar at Lon's at the Hermosa

Brunch is offered at Lon's at the Hermosa Inn all weekend, but the best time to go is this Saturday (or, at least, the second Saturday of every month until April). From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lon's will have an outdoor marketplace on its patio. Brunch & Bazaar includes cooking demos and $5 tastings from chef Jeremy Pacheco, pastry chef Trevor Tucker, and cocktail guru Travis Nass. Foodstuffs will be available for purchase from local favorites like Crow's Dairy and McClendon Farms and from the restaurant's very own kitchen (think housemade granola, herbal truffles, and Himalayan salt rocks). Brunch items, including Dungeness crab and rock shrimp ceviche and short rib hash, are available à la carte, or diners can select the Hacienda Brunch (fresh fruit, monkey bread, one starter, entrée, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage) for $42.

Four-Course Brunch at Superstition Farm by Chefs Matt Carter, Beau MacMillan, and Aaron May

This one-time-only brunch might just be the best of the season. Need we say more than Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro, The Mission), Beau MacMillan (Elements at Sanctuary), and Aaron May (Praying Monk, Over Easy)? Edible Exchange is hosting this farm-to-table meal -- which includes a full bar, hors d'oeuvres, and four courses of epic brunch eats -- at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Guests will dine in the barn and will also get the chance to tour Superstition Farm, meet local dairy farmers, take a fall hayride, hang out with farm animals, learn how to churn butter, and play games. And no one will leave without a farm "schwag bag" (hopefully loaded with delicious treats). Tickets are $90; a portion of proceeds will go to the Desert Willow Educational Garden.

Humble Pie's Pink Menu and Post-walk Party

The Race for the Cure is this Sunday, and now in its 20th year, the event is expected to bring together over 25,000 supporters. If you aren't ready to take on the 5k challenge, you can still show your support in our favorite fashion: eating. Humble Pie is serving a special Pink Menu through October 14 with every item, such as toasted ravioli and artichoke pizza, equaling a $2 donation to Susan G. Komen Phoenix. On Sunday, celebrate participants and survivors alike at the post-walk party, taking place at the 7th Street location from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make it to the finish line? Runners and walkers can enjoy food and drink specials at all five restaurant locations simply by sporting their race bibs.

Traditional Greek Cuisine at the 52nd Annual Greater Phoenix Greek Festival

You can find gyros, spanakopita, and baklava any day of the week. But how about pastitsio (Greek lasagna), lamb roasted on a spit, and cookies like finikia and melomakarouna? For just a $3 entry fee to the Greater Phoenix Greek Festival, you can have access to all that and even more traditional Greek eats. The three-day event runs from today through Sunday at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community Center. As visitors gorge on kalamari and kataifi, they can enjoy folk dances and other live entertainment.
