If you've driven by the northwest corner of Camelback Road and 32nd Street lately, chances are you've noticed a fair amount of construction going on at the former home of Zen 32.
The space in the Biltmore neighborhood, which sat vacant for two years, is getting a major overhaul. And in mid-October, will be the home of Central Bistro, a casual French and Italian restaurant courtesy of German Osio and chef Andrea Volpi, who also own Local Bistro in North Scottsdale.
"Central Bistro will stand alone from the former tenant that once housed this space. The atmosphere and menu are also a complete departure from its sister restaurant, Local Bistro" says Osio.
How so? For starters, how 'bout that sweet patio?
At twice the size of its original space and obliterating anything that remained of Zen 32, Central Bistro will boast a newly remodeled patio for al fresco dining as well as a bar, an exhibition kitchen with a wood-fired grill and pizza oven, and decor touches of brick, marble, and reclaimed wood.
And when it comes to the cuisine, the restaurant's menu, created by chef Andrea Volpi, the Milan-born chef whose resume includes La Locanda and Taggia, will focus on Italian and French fare featuring made-from-scratch pasta, sauces, and salad dressings. Dishes will include Neapolitan style pizza, Central Bouillabaisse with market seafood in a white wine saffron jus, and duck risotto.
For adult refreshments, Central Bistro will offer over 250 wines as well as cocktails. Plus, the restaurant will host a champagne brunch every Sunday.
