Quite frankly we can't believe it's only been a year since Hotel Palomar opened in Downtown Phoenix. It could be because we so quickly came to love the restaurant inside the hotel, which was just the spot downtowners had been waiting for. We liked it so much it even made our list of best new restaurants last year.

To celebrate the year of success the hotel and it's restaurant, Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails, are hosting a giant, free to the public party with free food, drinks and music on June 5.
The event also celebrates the debut of the LUSTRE Rooftop Garden, which is located on the third floor pool deck of the hotel and offers panoramic views of the Downtown cityscape including Chase Field and U.S. Airways Center.
The fun begins at 5 pm in the hotel's second-floor Living Room with a pillow fight -- that's right, a pillow fight. Hotel staff will provide the pillows, as well as share tips and proper techniques. Meanwhile, those with a hunger for food rather than battle can enjoy $1 signature cocktails and snacks from Blue Hound.
At 6 p.m. things will move outside and upstairs to the LUSTRE Garden, which besides the physical renovations, will also debut a new menu courtesy of Chef Stephen Jones. From 6 to 10 p.m. guests can expect complimentary bites, cocktails, a juice bar, sphere dancers and games of tennis table as well as music from DJ Al Page.
Both the pillow fight and LUSTRE Rooftop Garden Debut Party are free and open to the public, thought the LUSTRE Garden is only open to guests 21 and up.
