The next time you go catch a flick at the Harkins Shea 14, you'll have a new dinner option besides the infamous Amy's Baking Company. Restaurant folks Angela and Mario Rana have brought handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and other Italian specialities to the strip mall on the northwest corner of 74th Avenue and Shea Boulevard at Il Capo Pizzeria.

The restaurant, which has been open for a few weeks, also offers housemade charcuterie, salads, calzones, and panini. Pizza is available by the slice ($4) in varieties such as classic margherita and Diavolo, with tomato sauce, fennel, sopressata, chills, and ricotta. Wood-fired pizzas, which cost between $10 and $14 each, include Quattro Fromaggi, Zucca (butternut squash, Gorgonzola, onions, garlic, and EVOO), Funghi (porcini and cremini mushrooms, parmigiano, Gorgonzola, garlic, truffle oil, and herbs), and duck prosciutto (with figs, goat cheese, garlic, and EVOO).

There's a nice selection of beer and wine as well, including local brews from Four Peaks and SanTan. The bar also offers "Bubbl'inos," or fruit-infused coolers made with prosecco, that come in flavors including strawberry kiwi, blueberry ginger, and mango mint.

The Ranas are no strangers to the restaurant business. They also own Angela's Kitchen, an American restaurant in Surprise, and used to own Cuoco Pazzo, the Italian restaurant once located in the current home of Evo. Valley chef Peter DeRuvo was the chef there for just four months before leaving due to "differences in the management and business operations of the restaurant with father/son owners and operators Mario Rana Sr. and Jr."
