Sure, we're used to enjoying the food of top-notch Valley chefs, but when's the last time we chug-a-lugged their culinary styles in beer form?
The craft beer experts at Scottsdale's Sonoran Brewing Company are setting out to change that. They've teamed up with four, well-known Valley chefs as part of the first-ever Sonoran Brewing Company's (SBC) Inaugural Chef Series Beer Collaboration, where each chef will design and brew his own beer with the help of SBC brewmaster Zach Schroeder.
And talk about a local focus: the beers will be made using local ingredients, labels will be designed by local artist Ellison Keomaka, and local charities will receive a portion of the proceeds from each beer, which will be released throughout Arizona in 22 oz. bottles and on draft in select locations.
"I'm excited to craft my own style of beer," says chef Eddie Matney of Eddie's House, one of the participants, "and hopefully people enjoy it as much as they enjoy my food."

In addition to chef Eddie Matney, the three other participating chefs are Jeremy Pacheco of the Hermosa Inn, Lee Hillson of the Royal Palms, and James Porter of Petite Maison and Big Earl's BBQ.
According to the blog, Beer PHXation, the first release of the Sonoran Brewing Company's Inaugural Chef Series Beer Collaboration will be on March 3 with a creation called 7 Wives Saison from the Hermosa Inn's chef Jeremy Pacheco. Pacheco's brew, Beer PHXation reports, features local ingredients from producers like Singh Farms and McClendon Farms, was named for Lon Megargee's, the local artist and founder of Casa Hermosa, seven marriages, and local charity Waste Not Organization of Arizona, will benefit from proceeds of its sale.
Look for customized brews from the other three participating chefs to follow in the spring and summer.
