Like, for example, Pastry Chef Linda Schneider of 21 Cakes in Scottsdale. This month and next, she will host a series of baking and cake-decorating classes.

During a three-hour Cake Baking and Decorating class, guests will learn the basics of how to create a delicious and beautiful cake. At the end of the hands-on experience, they also will walk away with their very own six-inch dinner cake to take home and show off to friends. For those over 21, the class will include a a glass of wine.

As a second option for more ambitious bakers, 21 Cakes also will host a macaron class. Though the French pastries usually require two days to make, the class offers a shortened process so that attendees will have plenty to show for their hours of learning.

The Cake Baking and Decorating class will be offered twice: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, and 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5.

Macaron-making class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 6.

To sign up for any of the courses you can either call the bakery at 480-699-6220 or visit them at 7001 North Scottsdale Road. Each session will be capped at six guests and groups are welcome to make reservations as well as couples and individuals.
