In an effort to make Mom proud, Chow Bella's taking a good, hard look at the most important meal of the day in the form of Scrambled, a weekly review of local breakfast spots

A while back, Chow Bella got a little doughnut-obsessed, so a trip to one of our favorite fried-dough purveyers seemed obligatory for Scrambled. Happy to oblige. After all, every breakfast connoisseur deserves a sugary ring of goodness. So this week we headed to Chandler's BoSa Donuts for a well-deserved sugar high.

Did BoSa satisfy our sugary craving? Find out after the jump.

The Sunny Side: Located slightly north of Chandler's charming downtown, the BoSa building

is nothing to write home about. It pretty much meets all the doughnut shop standards: red cafeteria tables, warm lighting, warm temperature, a large glass display of circular treats, and a gaudy and colorful menu showcasing the offerings.

We were also impressed by the large beverage fridge that stocks everything from Red Bull to chocolate milk as well as the long drink menu including Boba tea, smoothies, and blended coffee drinks.

After a small delay (I'll be with you in one minute -- yelled from the kitchen) a young, sweet employee was gloved-up and ready.  We decided to go for a variety: two glazed, one cinnamon swirl, one pink frosting with sprinkles and one chocolate cake with coconut. The menu also includes a few standard breakfast sandwiches all under four bucks, but we stuck with the donuts.

The glazed donuts were, well, AWESOME. There's really no other way to put it. They were moist, sweet, and fell somewhere in between cakey and chewy. The pink frosting and cinnamon roll were also a hit. The pink frosting had a distinct, berry-like flavor and the cinnamon roll was a gooey treasure. So far the four dollar half dozen is a hit.

Save Your Bacon: Disappointment finally arrived with the chocolate cake coconut doughnut. The chocolate had a weird after taste and the consistency was dry. After already downing four donuts we weren't all that upset. The coffee was also pretty bland, but we weren't expecting gourmet.

The Check: This old-fashioned doughnut spot is cheap and delicious. Stick with the traditional doughnut flavors and be sure to try one of their many beverages. We dare you to walk out have spent more than $10.

Chandler's BoSa Doughnuts is located on 1016 North Arizona Avenue. Call 480-899-7134 for more information.
