For the culturally-conscious coffee sipping types, a new shop coming to downtown Phoenix in September promises to mix the java with the justice -- specifically for coffee farmers in Rwanda.
Set to open at 6 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, Eighth Day Coffee & Culture, located at 828 North 2nd Street (nearby FilmBar), will be brewing up 100% arabica, community-traded coffee from Rwanda, Haiti and Thailand. Eighth Day claims it's the only java house in greater Phoenix to serve the brand, Land of a Thousand Hills.
In addition to giving a bit of hope to those less fortunate, here's what else coffee fans can expect from Eighth Day -- plus, the coffee menu.
In addition to Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor seating, and a cozy couch area and study room, Eight Day will host rotating local art shows and live music on First Fridays and at special times each month.
