How many farmers' markets does it take to make Phoenix healthy? Or screw in a light bulb?
Seriously, we're starting to feel like farmers' markets are going the way of Starbucks. There's one practically on every corner -- or at least, it feels that way when you're deciding between eight farmers' markets all on the same day, miles and miles apart. "Will this one have my goat cheese?" "Does that one carry lemons?"
All we need now is a farmers' market in the parking lot of another farmers' market. But we digress.
Valley food lovers now have yet another local grocery shopping option in Roka Akor's Farmers' Market, open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Sunday starting on January 31st. Confirmed vendors include Bread and Basket Bakery, Alaska Pride Seafood, Classic Cakes and
Confection, Pastamore and Hallie's Apple Butter. There will also be a food booth for Roka Akor, San Gabriel Mexican Cafe and Bombay Spice.
It may seem like farmers' market overload, but then again we have a few friends who don't like to travel outside their 5-mile comfort zone. So if you live near Scottsdale Rd. and Indian Bend, you now have no excuse not to buy local. Happy shopping!
