The most visually stunning cookbook ever created has now been made into a handy app available for download on your iPhone, iPad, or computer. The eBook comes from former Microsoft chief technology officer Nathan Myhrvold and Inkling. You can download either the whole book or specific chapters now from the Apple App Store or the Inkling website.

It's been just over a year since the release of Modernist Cuisine at Home, the single volume version of Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking. The original six-volume cookbook made a splash when it was released in 2004 for its in-depth look at molecular gastronomy and extreme cooking techniques. Not to mention the fact that they sawed in half some super-expensive cooking tools, which not only looks awesome but is also very educational. Unfortunately, at $625 it wasn't exactly user-friendly, plus who has space for that many cookbooks?

That's is why Modernist Cuisine at Home was a great follow-up. Priced at a (comparatively) reasonable $140, the book ditched some of the more extreme molecular gastronomy tricks for those more achievable by the home cook.

And now, you can have it all on your phone.

The Modernist Cuisine at Home app will bring 416 recipes and 1,683 high-res photos to the palm of your hand. And 359 of those photos can't even be found in the book. According to the Modernist Cuisine website it also "lets you study a video of a new or complex technique, quickly change the recipe yield, add items to a grocery list that syncs to your smartphone, and find product and ingredient recommendations with a single tap." Home cooking will never be the same again.

The whole eBook will cost you $79.99, or you can buy a single chapter for $4.99.

If you want to try it out before you commit to the whole thing, you can download a free chapter, "A Modernist Meal at Home," on the Inkling website. (Spoiler alert: It's kind of really awesome.)

Earlier this year it was also announced that a photo-only version of the book would also be released this fall, one with no recipes but 399 stunning images taken from the original book.
