For years, traveling food event company Outstanding in the Field has been coming to the Valley to host dinners that combine unique venues with the talents of local chefs for one-night events that showcase Arizona's local bounty. And this fall is no exception.

In October, Outstanding in the Field will return to the Valley to host back-to-back dinner events featuring chefs Gio Osso of Virtu Honest Craft and Cullen Campbell of Crudo.

As in the past two years of the event, the 2015 dinners will be hosted by The Farm at Agritopia in Gilbert. Diners will eat al fresco at a large community table set up in the farm's peach orchard. Agritopia farmers Erich and Yvonne Schultz will give attendees a tour of the farm before the group sits down for dinner.

Osso will be featured at an event on Tuesday, October 27, while Campbell will be featured on Wednesday, October 28. Tickets, which include a gourmet multi-course wine-paired dinner made with local ingredients, cost $195 per person.

Founded by Jim Denevan, Outstanding in the Field aims to reconnect people with where food really comes from -- the farm -- by bringing people directly to the source. The California-based company tours the country hosting events at farms and celebrating the true meaning of farm-to-table dining.

Past host farms in the Phoenix area include Crooked Sky Farms in 2008, Double Check Ranch in 2010, and Maya's Farm in 2011.

Tickets tend to sell out for the events, so if you want in on the action, you'd better act fast. For more information or to buy a seat, visit the Outstanding in the Field website.
