An early morning serving of food news, with no preservatives or additives.

If you have overdue charges at the Phoenix Public Library, here is your chance to pay them off and do your good deed for the day. During "Food for Fines" you will get a $.50 credit (up to $50) for every can of food you bring down to any of the 15 Phoenix public libraries from now until April 24. All of the food collected will go to St. Mary's food Bank to help feed hungry Arizonans.

Get out and enjoy spring before you become locked in an artificially cooled building for four months, by hitting up one of the foodie events going on this weekend. Here's a quick rundown of what's going on.

Essence of the World - Friday, April 16th 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sample a variety of global culinary tastes. $2 for each sample of food, wine or beer. Admission is free.

The Great Arizona Picnic - Saturday, April 17th 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 18th 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Scottsdale Civic Center. 50 different restaurant will offer samples for a small fee, 200+ different beers to try and plenty of live music. $10 gets in the door and sampling tickets cost $1 each.

2nd Annual Water to Wine Festival - Saturday, April 17th from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m. at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood. Live entertainment, food and wine tastings. Admission is free, wine Tasing tickets are $10 for 5 samples.

The 2010 Wine, Woman, & Jazz Fundraiser - Saturday, April 17th 4 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. at the Arizona Culinary Institute. Guests can enjoy hor d'oeuves, desserts, wine and great live jazz music.
