It's been well over a year since the once popular north Phoenix drinking hole 16th Street Sports Bar closed its door but now there's some good news for residents of the neighborhood around 16th Street and Maryland.
Local restaurant developer Tucker Woodbury will open a new bar and restaurant in the space within the next few weeks. Called the Linger Longer Lounge, the new concept will be similar to Woodbury's Arcadia speakeasy-style bar The Little Woody.

Operations manager Damon Scott says Linger Longer Lounge is slightly larger than The Little Woody and will offer a bar room, game room, and, unlike the other spot, an outdoor patio. The space, which Woodbury's Genuine Concepts has had for a while now, has been remodeled since its sports bar days.
Drinkers can look forward to 16 draft beers as well as four "craft drafts," or cocktails on tap. There will also be a food menu, which Scott says will be larger and more diverse than what's available at The Little Woody.
Those familiar with the neighborhood around the Linger Longer Lounge may have already noticed that the bar is pretty close to another Genuine Concepts spot, The Vig Uptown. And it's true, the new bar is just a half mile up the street from the second location of The Vig, which opened back in 2010.
Scott says they aren't concerned about the proximity and points out that The Little Woody is also quite close to The Vig Arcadia.
