The local creative crowd came out in droves for the art-filled New Year’s Eve extravaganza em>Maybe 2013 Will Be Better, which took place on Monday, December 31, at The Compound in Tempe. The outdoor gallery and venue – which is run by artists JJ Horner, Colton Brock, and Charles Darr -- hosted more than a hundred revelers eager to bid farewell to 2012, as well as a variety of astounding visual pieces and work from close to 50 different Valley painters, photographers, and mixed media creators.

A “who’s who” of the local art scene contributed works from a number of mediums, including such names as Lalo Cota, Casebeer, Deaf Alex, Jules Demetrius, Pablo Luna, Jenny Ignaszewski, The Molten Brothers, and more. Meanwhile, local DJs like Pickster One and Djentrification kept the record decks hot all evening, and eclectic jazz ensemble Sunorus performed.
