Youre bound to find tons of comic books, zines and nerds dressed up as Boba Fett at this weekends Phoenix Comicon. And what is your companys IT guy going to be rocking out to? Local progressive rock band A Life of Science, whose multi-pronged storytelling approach includes their own comic, The Apneist, and who will be performing songs off their album of the same name on Saturday, May 29 at the Phoenix Convention Center. The party starts at 5 p.m. and, like most things that start before dark, its an all-ages after-party. Be sure to ask the guys about the novel and film centering on the story of the character from the album and comic book. Theyll be talking about that at a panel on Creating Multimedia Comics on Sunday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. That sounds a little early for a Sunday, but not with this crowd. For more info, see www.myspace.com/alifeofscience.

Youll be able to try your hand at scoring a bit part in a Bacon flick when The Bacon Brothers perform this Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30 at the Arizona Biltmore. Be sure to look cool in the character actor sort of way as their shows kick off the resorts summer entertainment series, called Hollywood and Wine, which focuses on bringing celeb performers, as well as hit movies and stage productions, to the Valley through Labor Day.
