  • 10 Things Under $10 This Weekend: Youth Brigade, Harry Potter, and Latin Beats

Harry Potter tribute band The Remus Lupins are scheduled to perform at the Scottsdale Public Library's Mustang Branch on Saturday. Who says there's nothing to do during the summertime besides planting yourself in front of either the television or the air conditioner? Certainly not us, since we've assembled a list of 10 different shindigs and events that Valley culture vultures can check out. And if you're running a little short until the next payday, don't fret. Like we mentioned last week,

  • Just Announced: David Archuleta, Authority Zero, Modest Mouse, Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen as a young, and somewhat relevant singer-songwriter.Most of this week's big announcements were already up here earlier this week when they broke -- Modest Mouse, Bruce Springsteen -- but we do have a few surprises on the next page. Like David Archuleta, the American Idol contestant who was too devoutly Mormon to sing the first verse of "Imagine" at the Marquee. Should be interesting.By the way, my friend Jess Harter pointed that Bruce Springsteen is the same night as the

  • Concert Calendar for This Weekend: The Non-All-Star Edition

The extreme metal freaks of Cradle of Filth are scheduled to perform on Friday at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe. As our blogger Yvonne Zusel noted a couple days ago, there's plenty of things to see and do in the Valley this weekend that have absolutely nothing to do with the hoopla surrounding the 2009 NBA All-Star Game. And here's the proof to back up said statement: our regular weekly round-up of all the non-All-Star concerts and major music/comedy events happening from tonight until Sunday.

  • Concert Calendar for This Weekend: Billy Joel, Elton John, JFA, Mega 104.3's Spring Jam, and More

The Lives of Famous Men are scheduled to perform tonight at Chyro Arts Venue in Scottsdale. As music editor Martin Cizmar mentioned in his post earlier today, the slate of concerts scheduled to go down from tonight until Sunday kinda pales in comparison to the overwhelming assortment of superstars who'll be in town next weekend. But while this weekend's line-up of major music and comedy events doesn't have any major music festivals, it does boast a few big names (such as the piano-pop pairing

  • You Asked For It: Green Lady Killers

Band: The Green Lady Killers, an all-girl garage rock trio from Phoenix. Record: Just Fine LP. Basics: There are a bazillion garage rock grrl bands to compare these ladies to, any of which would undoubtedly raise hackles from someone citing some small difference between The GLKs and the other band. Let's just say they're a darker and less go-go-y Love Me Nots, or a a more stripped down Girl in a Coma.

  • 10 Things Under $10 This Weekend: Social's Swan Song, Sublime, Firearms, and More

DJ Brook B will be a part of the final Social tonight at Incog. There's a certain dilemma involved with this weekend. Should one go all out and spend the next 48-72 hours living it up? Or do you pace yourself and conserve some energy since there's only three days or work (if that) next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday? Either way, there's gonna plenty of stuff going on. Third Friday is tonight (so make sure to peep Arty Girl's blog from earlier for a guide of what to see and do) in additi
