  • Eight Year Old St. Johns Boy Is Poster Kid for Gun Laws

If there's anything the tragedy in St. Johns should teach you, it's that if you plan to spank your eight year old 1,000 times, you may not want to show him how to shoot a rifle. Either that, or you might want to consider the option of a "time out" for the little bugger.Sure, sure, no one deserves to die just for spanking some kid 1,000 times, but police claim the eight year old in question kept a record of his spankings, and that the thousandth would be the last. Of course, at this point, to say

  • Gun Dealer Case Blown; Goddard Vows, "It's Not Over By Any Means"

A case of a Phoenix gun dealer whose sales were allegedly tied to Mexican drug cartels fell apart yesterday after a judge decided the state didn't have enough evidence. The prosecution of George Iknadosian, (at right), of Glendale, had been heavily promoted to the news media by authorities who wanted to show they're doing something about the American weapons being used in the bloody Mexican cartel war. Instead of a good-news story for state Attorney General Terry Goddard, t

  • Handgun Nets Illegal Immigrant Nearly Five Years in Prison

.38 Superwww.gunsetc.com "Alien in possession of a firearm" sounds a tad like science-fiction poetry, but it's also the title of a federal statute - and one that's putting a Mexican national behind bars for about five years. While gun ownership is an Arizonan's birthright, (the state constitution goes well beyond the Second Amendment), illegal immigrants aren't supposed to be in on the fun. Of course, it's a no-brainer that plenty of illegal immigrants own firearms in this state for both protec

  • Q&A: Ted Nugent Talks Guns, Meth, and Hippies Before NRA Convention in Phoenix

The Motor City Madman: Ted NugentTed Nugent talks a lot about discipline. Speaking on the phone from his ranch outside Waco, Texas, the Detroit-born guitarist of "Cat Scratch Fever" fame comes back to it again and again. His life of clean living is the way to go, he says, living another way is nothing less than insane. Nugent, who comes to Phoenix Sunday not to perform, but to speak at the National Rifle Association's annual conference, is an old-school conservative. As a member of the NRA's bo

  • Concealed Weapons in Arizona Restaurants?

Did you catch this news? The Associated Press reported on SB 1113, a bill passed by a state Senate panel last week that would allow people to bring handguns into restaurants -- provided they have a concealed carry permit and do not consume alcohol. Governor Janet Napolitano vetoed a similar bill in 2005.

A former schoolteacher from Tolleson walked out of a Buckeye prison a free man on Tuesday following a successful appeal of his conviction in a shooting he says was in self defense.
