  • Maynard James Keenan's New Band, Puscifer, Finally Schedules a Show

Arizona's own Maynard James Keenan, best known as the front man of Tool and A Perfect Circle, has scheduled a show with his new band, Puscifer and it's nothing like what you'd expect from the enigmatic singer who was the subject of a New Times' cover story last month. On Valentine's Day weekend Keenan, who created the band in 2007, will play two dates to debut the live incarnation of Puscifer in fabulous Las Vegas. • AZ Stronghold Gets Props from Wine Spectator

Jamie Peachey89! I hear this is the best score ever given to an Arizona wine (Callaghan's 2001 Syrah scored the same). Not bad for a debut label, huh? Wine Spectator rated Arizona Stronghold's Nachise in a recent Super Bowl feature where the editors rounded up 22 top wines (a la 22 players on the football field) that wouldn't break the bank and go well with comfort food: ARIZONA STRONGHOLD Nachise Cochise County 2007 Score: 89 | $20 Ripe and smoky, but there's a very tasty, pure core of

  • 'The Heart is a Drum Machine' Draws Big, Loud Crowd For Premiere

The Voyager Golden Record, sent in to deep space with a selection of Earth's music, is an important part of the film. It's not often a movie with Elijah Wood, Juliette Lewis, George Clinton, Wayne Coyne and a host of other big names premieres in Phoenix, so it probably wasn't surprising that The Heart is a Drum Machine's opening at Phoenix Art Museum drew a huge crowd last night. Free wine from the Arizona winery owned by Tool's Maynard James Keenan didn't hurt either. Check out the trailer here.

Arizona's young wine industry is currently undergoing a growth-spurt akin to a 12 year-old basketball player. • Maynard James Keenan Opens Wine Tasting Room in Jerome

It's 110 degrees here today. It's 83 up in Jerome. Sounds like a good time for a road trip, no? Oh, if only there weren't that four-letter word called WORK to deal with. Well, if you can play hooky -- or hold out 'til the weekend -- I already have something to add to your itinerary. It's the Caduceus Cellars and Merkin Vineyards Tasting Room, owned by winemaker Maynard James Keenan. It just opened for business last week. World famous as the frontman of the rock band Tool, Keenan has c

Tonight is a home-coming show of sorts for Tool, whose frontman Maynard James Keenan graced our cover a few months back because of his ambitious wine-making operation near Sedona. We'll have a review for you tomorrow morning. Some other things to read before the show:Our somewhat controversial advance from last Thursday's issue. This review from our Denver sister paper (scroll down to 8:45, look for the hand-drawn picture which the photographer did after the band oddly banned Westword, but allowed

  • Tool in 140 Characters or Less

Most Tool fans at U.S. Airways Center last night were more focused on the stage than their phones, trying their best to take in the laser show -- or get a glimpse of enigmatic frontman Maynard James Keenan as he lurked in the shadows -- instead of texting their friends. There were some Twitterers at last night's concert though, producing an assortment of tweets we culled these from. By the way, you can check out our official review here. @Sheussliche: Tool just played stinkfist and 46&2

  • Puscifer Sets Tour Dates, Plays Phoenix December 3 and 4

Arizona-dwelling Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan's side project, Puscifier, has announced fall tour dates, including two shows at Phoenix's stunning Orpheum Theatre. The show, which actually allows you to see Maynard, unlike Tool's concerts, where he stands on the back of the stage, has been explained as, "a performance art spectacle equal parts comedy cabaret show, guerrilla theater, lysergic animation sequences, Krautrock-inspired metallic jams and leering lunacy of various stripes."Soun

  • Puscifer Tix On Sale Friday

Tool frontman and vino aficionado Maynard James Keenan's on-the-sly musical endeavor, Puscifer, is set to headline two nights at downtown Phoenix's Orpheum Theatre this December. Lucky for you, tickets are available this Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. via Live Nation.Apparently, Keenan leaves behind that dark, brooding, plz-don't-look-at-me persona he turns on during Tool performances. Puscifer is "definitely not thinking man's music, but groove-oriented music that makes you feel good," per a
