Denise Lucero hopes that by re-publicizing the case of her murdered brother, someone will give the cops a clue that leads to justice. The New Mexico resident e-mailed a heartfelt plea for extra attention on the case today to New Times and several other news media outlets in the Valley. The family will be holding a candlelight vigil in Mesa on Monday.  Randolph Lucero, (at right), was found slain in his Mesa apartment two years ago. Police have no leads. • House Judiciary's Witness List for Thursday's 287(g) Hearing

I just received the witness list for Thursday's 287(g) hearing from New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler's office. At this point, it's highly unlikely that the Republicans will try to call Sheriff Joe Arpaio because the Dems are running the show, and Arpaio would be walking into a hostile environment. As previously reported. Mesa Police Chief George Gascon is on the list, as is Julio Mora, who was harassed by MCSO deputies during the HMI raid in February. He was dropping off his father for work as

courtesy of Dennis Gilman Why does this man still have federal power? Ask Janet Napolitano...Is ICE finally yanking on Sheriff Joe Arpaio's leash? And is it too gentle of a tug to stop the sweeps? Check out the press release below sent out by Arpaio announcing a 4 p.m. press conference today so the sheriff can kvetch about how ICE allegedly ordered three suspected illegal immigrants freed, after it was determined that they had committed no state crime. This supposedly occurred as part of A

Image: www.arizonaheat.orgGive me an -- injunction! Three "all-star" cheerleading gyms in the Valley are suing the Arizona Interscholastic Association, claiming the rule-making collaborative of state schools is ruining their business. A lawsuit filed in Maricopa County Superior Court a couple of weeks ago says the AIA passed a rule in March that bans participants of school cheerleading and pom-pom squads from practicing or competing with the gyms. Breakfast is usually considered the most important meal of the day because it fuels you through the morning, but who says you have to eat it in the a.m.? Tonight, it's an opportunity to help the Arizona Children's Association. Hickman's Family Farms is sponsoring "PJ and Eggs" this evening, a breakfast-for-dinner fundraiser taking place at several popular local breakfast haunts not normally open at such hours (5 p.m. to close). • Haunted House Review: The Gauntlet

The Gauntlet at Golfland. BY JENNIFER FRY Where: The Gauntlet at Golfland in Mesa. 155 W Hampton Ave
Mesa, AZ 85210 Overview: The Gauntlet is a dark, indoor attraction focusing on mazes and diversion tactics. The theme is The Black Plague in Europe in the 1300s. Without the narrator at the beginning, the theme may not have gotten across as such, but it still managed to be one of the better houses in the Valley. Filled with the same creepy characters in masks every house employs, they
