Army Command Sergeant Major Martin Barreras, a 49-year-old from Tucson, died earlier this week at a hospital in San Antonio, a week after being wounded in Afghanistan.Barreras is the 50th soldier from Arizona to die in connection with the war in Afghanistan.
Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joshua Silverman, a 35-year-old from Scottsdale, was one of six soldiers who died in a helicopter crash this week in Afghanistan, according to the Defense Department.Silverman is the 49th Arizona native to die in Afghanistan under "Operation Enduring Freedom."
