  • Backstreet Boys Canceled

By Martin Cizmar I sure would hate to be a bartender at the Chandler TGI Friday’s tonight: The Backstreet Boys show at Dodge Theatre this evening has been canceled – CANCELED – at the last minute. Due to illness. “The Backstreet Boys and Live Nation sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused fans.” Well, ladies, you got the sitter anyway, so may as well make a night of it and see The Secret Life Of Bees, maybe drink a few frozen margaritas. Feel free to vent ab

  • Bistro G Not Really Happening?

After posting about Luc's sudden shutdown yesterday, I heard a rumor that Luc's won't change its concept to Bistro G after all. Apparently the landlords at El Pedregal wouldn't approve the new concept unless the restaurant owners committed to keeping Bistro G open seven days a week, for both lunch and dinner. Word is, that didn't fly with the Luc's people, so they locked the doors yesterday, and now the staff is out pounding the pavement looking for work. Not holding my breath to hear anything m

  • For the Love of...P.F. Chang's?

Lauren GilgerAdam Aponte enjoying lettuce wraps at P.F. Chang's in Scottsdale. Adam Aponte loves P.F. Chang's. A lot. In fact, he and a friend took off Thursday night on a cross-country road trip to eat their way through seven different P.F. Chang's China Bistro's, in seven different cities from Phoenix to Boston, over the next two weeks. "And I plan on hitting five more on the way," he said Thursday night at the send-off soiree the Phoenix-founded restaurant chain threw for him and his family

  • Smashburger Makes Arizona Debut This Fall

From Fatburger to In-N-Out Burger, there's no shortage of burger joints in Tempe, but with thousands of ASU students to munch on them, what's one more? This fall, Denver-based burger chain Smashburger is hoping to take a bite out of that business with the opening of its first Arizona location, at 777 S. College Ave. in Tempe. The new spot will be Smashburger's 25th location -- and this is just the beginning. As part of the company's aggressive national expansi

  • Dine4AZ Campaign Starts Today

Regular readers of Chow Bella already know we're big on putting your money where your mouth is. Now Governor Jan Brewer is helping to push the same message as part of a statewide campaign to "kick-start the economy" through dining out at local restaurants.   Dine4AZ, launched today by Shamrock Foods, got props from the governor, the Arizona Restaurant Association, and state tourism officials, who say that a boost for the restaurant industry will help lift Arizona out of recession. It's eat

  • Free Blooming Onion at Outback

There's nothing we love more than food. Except maybe FREE food. While Outback Steakhouse isn't the kind of small, indie business we usually pimp here on Chow Bella, we have to admit they make a pretty awesome Bloomin' Onion appetizer. Sliced and fried till golden brown, the everyday onion ends up looking like some exotic Thai flower with petals splayed open to expose a creamy dip center. The normally spicy onion takes on a more subtle, sweet taste. Hungry yet? Al
