A great week for show announcements, as we've got indie faves The Black Lips, Cursive, Gaslight Anthem, and The Little Ones coming.Oh, and Fall Out Boy. Right now I'm writing up a column on last week's I Heart AZ party, a SxSW showcase our blog contributor Steve Chilton threw last week in Austin, which was definitely the highlight of my week at the festival. Around the New Times office we're really loving The Blaze's Guest DJ week (which I participated in yesterday). Last summer, one of the coolest (and indeed, hottest) places to be seen was at the Hotel San Carlos for the weekly Star Swim party. An absolute throng of hundreds of hepcats and kittens crowded the tiny pool area at the vintage auberge in downtown Phoenix for several weekends while an array of local indie bands and musicians like Miniature Tigers, Black Carl, and Mr. Meeble provided a summertime soundtrack.
