If you're already up to your ears with holiday stress from gift shopping, you can forget about planning an elaborate feast for your friends and family. Make reservations at one of the Valley's finest restaurants to enjoy a Christmas dinner with lots of love and laughter -- and less of hearing your relatives nitpick and bicker in the kitchen.
There will be a three-course menu available on Christmas Eve (5 to 10 pm) and Christmas Day (10:30 am to 9 pm). Diners can choose dishes like crispy duck confit with hazelnuts, chestnut agnolotti with Dungeness crab and persimmon, grilled filet mignon with tomato-cabernet reduction, and Loch Duart salmon with pistachio vinaigrette. The prix-fixe dinner is $80, and wine pairings are available for an additional cost. T. Cook's will also serve a Christmas buffet for $65 per adult, $20 per child ages 6 to 12; kids 5 and under eat free. Reservations required, and 48-hour notice must be given for cancellations. If you want to pamper yourself on Christmas without breaking the bank, book a table for Province by calling 602-429-3600. For only $29 per person, the three-course Christmas dinner includes roasted beet salad with bleu cheese and candied pepitas, prime rib with fingerling potatoes, and gingerbread pound cake with ice cream and buttered rum sauce. Dinner will be served from 4 to 10 pm on Christmas Day.
Executive Chef Beau MacMillan, who bested Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America, has crafted a special four-course dinner to be served from 12 to 9 pm on Christmas Day. Menu choices include wild mushroom and truffle soup with spot prawn ravioli, miso-glazed Chilean sea bass, charred zucchini and coconut lobster broth, and smoked garlic-glazed pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes and bacon-braised cabbage. Enjoy flavors of Arizona with a four-course holiday dinner featuring lobster bisque with corn emulsion and cilantro, chili-dusted beet salad with candied pecan vinaigrette, roasted free range turkey with wild sage giblet gravy and tequila cranberry relish, green chili cornbread stuffing, grilled black angus filet with sweet red pepper emulsion, and chocolate mascarpone Yule log with Kahlua crème Anglaise and walnut ice cream. All season long, you can order a Hog Nog for $9, featuring Schreiner's bacon that's infused with Rogue hazelnut spiced rum. The festive cocktail is a great complement to Christmas dinner, which will be served from 11:30 am to 9 pm. The three-course menu options include wild mushroom bisque, roasted baby beets and Brussels sprouts, Christmas ham with Saigon cinnamon glaze, herb marinated beef rib eye with tamarind jus, grilled salmon with fennel and chestnut salad, and salted caramel hazelnut truffle tart with sweet cherry ice cream. Many items at this Christmas buffet will be infused with Southwestern flavor, including eggs Benedict with chorizo and chipotle hollandaise, Southwestern Caesar salad, and grilled-to-order quesdaillas. For $47.95 per person, Pointe in Tyme has a gourmet buffet-style dinner of herb-crusted prime rib, grilled New Zealand lamb chops, seared grouper, whipped potatoes, fresh soups, seafood, imported and domestic cheeses, and assorted desserts. Different Pointe of View is serving a feast for $59.95 with grilled oysters on the half shell, achiote pork loin, slow-roasted prime rib, tom turkey breast, pan-seared cobia, port-braised pot roast, whipped mascarpone mashed potatoes, and much more. For a Christmas feast fit for an Italian family, book a table at this Scottsdale restaurant. Chef Massimo De Francesca is preparing a prix-fixe menu of zuppa de baccala (salt cod chowder with potatoes), insalata di pesce (chilled salad of shrimp, octopus, scallops, and calamari), lasagna with red wine, zuppa di pesce (seafood stew with tomato-saffron broodo), gianduja mousse with caramelized bananas, and more. If you like the sound of celebrating Christmas with butter-poached lobster, make reservations at Tanzy by calling 480-483-3255. Other entrée options are procini-crusted lamb loin with port wine demi-glace and eggplant ragu, or chicken Sciliana with fresh gnocchi and buffalo mozzarella. Dessert options include red velvet bread pudding, tiramisu, and peppermint ice cream. The three-course prix-fixe menu is $44 for adults, $29 for children 12 and under.
