3 Best Things to Eat and Drink This Weekend in Metro Phoenix
Truckin' Awesome Super Fest Today through Saturday, January 31
This weekend you can get a sneak peek at the soon-to-open DeSoto Central Market located at 915 N. Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix by heading to the three-day Truckin' Awesome Super Fest. The party will be held on the outdoor patio and will feature food trucks and a beer and wine garden, as well as live music and DJs. The dog and bike-friendly event will also include ping pong, corn hole, and arts and crafts vendors so you can soak up some rays while you enjoy your beer. Admission to the festival is free. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the party goes until 11 p.m. For more information check the Facebook event page.
Bad Water Brewing's Brewers Bowl Saturday, January 31
Beer lovers will want to head to downtown Scottsdale's Bad Water Brewing Tap Room on Saturday to catch the first annual Brewers Bowl. The competition and event will feature 15 local breweries, which are competing for a Brewers Bowl trophy -- modeled after the Vince Lombardi Trophy, of course. Participating local breweries include Bad Water Brewing, The Beer Research Institute, College Street Brewhouse & Pub, Desert Eagle Brewing Company, Dubina Brewing Co., Fate Brewing Co., Four Peaks Brewing Company, Freak'N Brewing Company, Historic Brewing Company, Mudshark Brewery, North Mountain Brewing Company, O.H.S.O. Eatery + nanoBrewery, Saddle Mountain Brewing Company, and Sleepy Dog Brewery. Admission to the festival, which runs from 5 to 10 p.m., cost $25 and include 20 beer tasting tickets. There will also be live music and food trucks for dining and entertaiment. For more information or to purchase a ticket visit the Brewers Bowl website.
"Dinner on Us" at Roaring Fork and Salty Sow Sunday, February 1
If you're looking for a place to dine on Super Bowl Sunday that doesn't involve chicken wings and lite beer, you might want to know that two Valley restaurants will be welcoming guests with a Super Bowl BOGO deal. On Sunday both Salty Sow in north Phoenix and Roaring Fork in Scottsdale will pick up the check for one entree for every entree purchased. That includes everything from Roaring Fork's well-loved green chile mac n' cheese to entrees from Salty Sow's American gastro-pub menu. Reservations are recommended. Call 480-947-0795 (Roaring Fork) or 602-795-9463 (Salty Sow).
