5 Places to Eat and Drink on Thanksgiving Eve in Metro Phoenix
On Thanksgiving Eve, chef Cullen Campbell and the Crudo crew will host the second annual Put a Bird on It Party. In keeping with the avarian theme, the bar will serve drinks such as the Duck Duck Moose, made with Ayelsbury Duck Vodka, Hum Botanical Liqueur, lemon, and maple syrup, and the Birds of a Feather, made with Wild Turkey bourbon, Scarlet Ibis Rum, lime, mint, and brown sugar. All drinks will cost $7. From the kitchen, look forward to specials such as fried chicken skins with Calabrian chile ($5), scrapple, and eggs ($7), Tennessee hot chicken with corn cake and pickles ($12), and smoked wings with white balsamic aioli ($8). The party starts at 9 p.m.
For a relaxing and cheese-filled Thanksgiving Eve, you'll want to head to the Pink Pony, where Hot Dish Inc. and Alex Phillips of Grand Canyon Brewery are teaming up for a tasting event. The event will feature small-production artisan cheeses paired with Grand Canyon Brewing beers. Pink Pony chef Stephen K. Eldridge will also create family-style snacks, including Pink Pony's homemade pretzels. The event costs $25 in advance or $35 at the door and goes from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online.
Kelly's at SouthBridge
On Wednesday night, Kelly's at SouthBridge will be all about kicking back with your friends before the holidays begin. Beginning at 6 p.m., the Old Town Scottsdale restaurant will host its Third Annual "Friends-Giving" Party, complete with drink specials, live music, and a pie-eating contest for Nordstrom holiday gift cards. Lee Perreira will provide musical entertainment while attendees enjoy $5 Old Fashioneds, $5 Manhattans, $5 Wild Turkey shots, and an ugly sweater holiday card portrait studio.
Since you'll be spending all the next day with your crazy family, Clever Koi invites you to come to the restaurant for a late-night anniversary party on Thanksgiving Eve. The restaurant will offer 12 classic cocktails specially priced at $7 as well as a whole-hog Luau-style pig roast. For $10, you can get a cut of slow-roasted whole pig and a selection Asian-style sides, including potato and macaroni salad, sticky rice and green salad. The party goes from 9 p.m. to midnight -- oh, and did we mention there will be karaoke?
Hula's Modern Tiki
Both the Phoenix and Scottsdale locations of Hula's Modern Tiki are keeping it simple with their Thanksgiving Eve parties. Head to either bar/restaurant to cash in on happy hour specials and some specialty cocktails. At the Phoenix location, there will be a live band playing on the patio. Drinking a mai tai while enjoying Arizona's sunny weather sounds a like a good way to ring in the holiday season to us.
