Arts & Drafts: Private Ansel Adams Collection at World of Beer

When you think of a gallery show held in a bar, you might expect to find some good ol' college tries or undeveloped talent. But that's far from the case at Tempe's World of Beer, located in the 100-year-old Tempe National Bank building on Mill Avenue. The craft beer house is currently home to a private Ansel Adams collection, on display through 8 p.m. Sunday, April 7. Access to the selected original works, which are hung in the bank vault, is $8 and includes a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale draft. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Tempe Festival of the Arts.

23rd Annual Phoenix Pride Festival

The Phoenix Pride Festival will be held all weekend at Steele Indian School Park. Events include one hell of a parade, the Miss & Mister Phoenix pageant, live local bands, a dance pavilion, the Pride Arts Expo, the Erotic World adult venue, and a KidsSpace with crafts and games for ages 4 to 10. And to keep partygoers fueled all day and night, there will be beer, wine, cocktails, and two international food courts, one near the Bistro Stage and one near the Karamba Nightclub Pavilion. Single-day admission is $15, and a weekend pass is $25.

Coconut Curry Waffles at Bragg's Factory Diner

This weekend, upgrade your boring breakfast of cereal or toast with a pit stop at Bragg's Pie Factory downtown. The newly opened diner features a menu that's mostly vegan, but even non-vegans will enjoy the coconut curry waffles ($7). Not only are they crispy and golden brown on the outside, but they pack bold sweet-meets-savory flavor. Complete with a drizzle of syrup and a side of rosemary potatoes, this spin on waffles will make you forget to miss the eggs, milk, and gravy.

Arizona Opera and Culinary Mischief's Last Event of the Season

For the 2012-2013 season, the Arizona Opera announced a partnership that put a smile on the faces of Phoenix aficionados. Culinary Mischief, the Valley's roving secret supper club, has been crafting mysterious menus to follow performances of operas like Puccini's Tosca and Verdi's Il Trovatore. Now the season is coming to an end with quite the finale: The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m. Afterward there will be a four-course wine dinner hosted and prepared by chef Gabriele Bertaccini with a special performance by mezzo-soprano Jamie Van Eyck, who plays Cherubino. The event is limited to 30 guests and costs $110 per person. To ensure you get a taste of the secret menu at the to-be-announced location, e-mail RSVP@iLTOCCOFOOD.COM.

Mack's Inaugural Chili Cook-off

As many chili competitions as there are across the United States, we still get excited when we hear there's one more. This Saturday, Iguana Mack's Arizona Roadhouse will be hosting its 1st Annual Chili Cook-off and BBQ. The chili will be dished out between 1 and 4 p.m., and the winner will be announced at 5. The restaurant will also have BBQ plates on offer through the evening for $10, loaded up with smoked meats like brisket, pulled pork, and chicken plus two sides. There will also be activities for kids and live music by A Boy Named Sioux.
