Number 57: Carne Asada on a potato pancake at The Vig

There's always good people watching at The Vig, but if you're hungry for more than eye candy, this Arcadia watering hole serves up some tasty comfort food. Chef Lenny Rubin has covered all the pub grub essentials like burgers and nachos, but he keeps some intriguing entrees in the mix.

The carne asada is definitely a favorite. The meat is sizzled to just-right juiciness, splayed out on a big potato pancake that's a welcome alternative to the ubiquitous tortilla. Roasted tomato-garlic sauce takes it to the next level (you'll want to lick the plate), and there's pico de gallo and sour cream on top, along with a sprinkling of cotija. It's worthy of a fancier restaurant, but welcome right here, right now, with a round of drinks at The Vig.
