Number 58: White flannel hash at Orange Table

Corned beef never used to be on my breakfast radar. It seemed old fashioned, like something my grandfather would've ordered. But several years ago, when Orange Table opened, I surprised myself when I rediscovered the dish and completely loved it.

Nowadays, I'm such a creature of habit that I can hardly come here for breakfast without getting the white flannel hash -- and considering all the good stuff on the menu, like pancakes and omelets, that's saying a lot.

For a savory, stick-to-your-ribs morning bite, this dish is a stellar choice. Sliced corned beef is sizzled up with potato, garlic, onion, and mushroom, and topped with sour cream and chives. That alone would comprise a great breakfast, but it comes with eggs and toast as well. If it all sounds like a food coma waiting to happen, it sure is, but if you drink enough coffee it'll fuel you through the craziest of days.
