Unless you're really into cake, chances are you haven't heard of David Pham and Bamboo Bakery. For years, he operated quietly in a small space in a westside strip mall. Take notice: Pham now has a 10,000 square foot bakery and showroom in central Phoenix -- and he's ready to bake.

The new location is set to have its first official open house on Thursday, October 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The large non-descript building does not give away what you'll find inside. From the start, the faint smell of cake greets your nose. High ceilings and stained concrete floors are found in the main area, and cakes of all sizes, colors and shapes are found in the middle of the expansive room.

Currently, the bakery has about 150 flavors available, and that number grows every month as more wedding cake orders come in.

Pham says that "brides want something special out of their cakes" and many are straying from traditional designs.

The same goes for cake flavors, as the two most popular requested flavors are strawberry shortcake and pink champagne with raspberry filling.

The new location also houses a photography studio and will play host to a variety of bridal events.
