Last night, the Academy Awards celebrated the hard work, dedication, and sheer awesomeness of professionals in the film industry. This week, the Travel Channel celebrates a show no one will care about, hosted by someone with scant credentials, and promoted in a commercial made by and for men. You go, Travel Channel! Save the serious stuff for Katheryn Bigelow, you've got obesity porn, bug-eaters and horrible drivers.
Food Wars pits two famous same-town eateries against each other over iconic foods like chicken wings. The outcome is decided by blindfolded judges, and the "prize" is bragging rights. Wee! Other than the locals and a host who produced the 2006 Off-Off Broadway show, Jitter (huh?), it's hard to believe anyone will care whether Mike's hot dogs finally has its day against Jim's Wieners in Anytown U.S.A.
And the cat fight promo? Please.
