The first annual Downtown Barbecue Throwdown in Chandler is goin' down this Saturday March 20th from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. The Throwdown is billed as a fierce competition where pros as well as amateur chefs will compete in four categories. Aside from great barbecue, there will also be live entertainment, kid activities, and a beer garden. Ten bucks gets you in the door and includes five complimentary barbecue samplers. While you're in Chandler tomorrow, baseball hall of famer Tommy Lasorda will be signing bottles of his Lasorda Italian Wine from 1 till 3 p.m. The signing is first come, first serve and numbered tickets will be handed out starting at 9 a.m. Be forewarned, you must purchase three bottles of his wine before he will sign anything and the only thing he will sign is a single bottle of said wine. Starting Sunday March 21st, Boa Bistro will hold monthly cooking classes with chef Payton Curry. Each class includes wine, snacks and dinner plus you get to take home all the recipes. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 480-981-2000. Visit their website for more info.
