Are there high expectations for Market Street Kitchen, the new restaurant of American fare at DC Ranch in north Scottsdale? You might say that. Times two.
Two, meaning the two notable chefs that will head up Market Street Kitchen's, er, kitchen: James Beard Award-winner Robert McGrath (formerly of Spotted Donkey Cantina, Renegade Kitchen, and Roaring Fork) and Matt Taylor (the 20-something chef who left Noca this May and who also did a stint at Metro Brasserie).
As the restaurant's executive chef and chef de cuisine, respectively, McGrath and Taylor will be working for Keeler Hospitality Group, which currently operates Spencer's for Steaks and Chops, a Hilton property, and Portland Prime at the Portland Downtown Embassy Suites.
Here's what diners can expect.
Describing the cuisine as "rustic, urban American fare," Market Street Kitchen will offer appetizers, pastas, soups and salads, seafood, and wood-grilled vegetables, but its biggest food-centered attraction might be the wood-fired rotisserie, On display in the restaurant, it will be used to roast meats like poultry, pork loin, prime rib, and lamb.
Specific dishes, the Republic reports, will included sharable appetizers such as green chile stew, mussels steamed with ham hock, and buffalo-glazed lamb chops; wood-fired daily specials like chile-glazed suckling pig and tamale pie, whole roasted snapper, and Mexican-style spit-roasted cabrito (young goat); and entrees such as ahi tuna, filet mignon, and pork flat-iron.
The Republic goes on to say McGrath's signature burger (called the Big Ass Burger at Roaring Fork and Bob's Big Burger at Renegade Canteen) will be featured on the menu at Market Street Kitchen under the moniker "The Burger."
In the area of adult beverages, Market Street Kitchen will offer vintage cocktails, local craft beers, and an extensive wine list including over 30 by the glass at its horseshoe-shaped bar, which will also include a charcuterie and fromage station.
The interior of the restaurant will include an open display kitchen, wrap-around indoor dining, a floor to ceiling wine wall, and a large patio with views of the neighboring McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
The Republic reports Market Street Kitchen will open tomorrow, Thursday, September 20, and will be open for dinner only until lunch is introduced in the next few weeks.
