Yeah that's right, this Fry Girl's a Spicy V.I.P.

Taking advantage of Chick-fil-A's pre-launch promotion of reserving their new Spicy Chicken Sandwich for a limited number of customers to try before officially launching on Monday, this Fry Girl felt like a fast food celebrity. Friendly e-mails, a dedicated cash register, and a reserved seating section decked out in red tablecloths made this promotional experience chick-tastic -- clowns and kings take note.

The red, flashing light on the counter (another part of the promotion an associate told me signaled a spicy emergency) made for a dramatic background when I met Daniel Trotter, owner of the Chick-fil-A on Mayo Boulevard. Daniel told me he was on a "development pipeline" for ownership, having worked at the Chick in college and then for the Atlanta-based headquarters before coming to roost in Phoenix.

Check out Daniel's dishing on the Chick's newest sandwich since 1989, KFC, peanut-oil fryers, and how many people know the secret breading recipe in this week's column.
