CLOSED: The Only Breadsmith in Arizona
As of today, fans of European-style breads in Mesa have one fewer place to pick up a Norwegian rye or a rum raisin babka.
On Wednesday, after eight years in business, Breadsmith of Mesa shuttered. Located in The Village at Las Sendas Shopping Center at Power and McDowell Roads, the store was the only Arizona location for the Breadsmith retail bakery chain.
Headquartered in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Breadsmith, which was founded in 1993 and has more than 30 independently owned locations, has received awards for its European-style breads from Bon Appétit magazine, Modern Baking, and the International Culinary Salon.
A message on the bakery's Facebook page reads as follows:
"After eight wonderful years, Breadsmith will be closing our doors on July 31. We would like to thank all of our amazing customers who made this such a special place every day. We will cherish the eight years we had and wish everyone much success in their future endeavors! Thank you all!"
