When owners Jan Wichayanuparp and Helen Yung opened the doors of Sweet Republic in 2008 it didn't take long for people to realize the Valley's frozen treat scene would never be the same again. We've given them our vote three times since opening and so have Food and Wine, Sunset, the Travel Channel and Food Network -- among others.

In honor of their fifth birthday, Sweet Republic has a present for you.

In honor of the business' five years of turning out artisan ice cream, they announced on their Facebook page that they will be offering free single scoops on Wednesday, June 12th from 3 to 5 p.m. And if a single scoop of Sweet Republic isn't going to cut it, they're also offering 20% off everything else -- except gift cards and certificates, of course.

Standard Sweet Republic flavors include Peanut Butter Chip, Salted Butter Caramel, Brownie Swirl and Honey Blue Cheese. Seasonal offerings include Peach sorbet, Rocky Road (both available now) and Earl Grey Tea. For more information visit the Sweet Republic website.

Sweet Republic in Scottsdale is open from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
