Valentine's Day (or Saint Valentine's Day) is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by lovers expressing their affection for each other through gifts of sappy cards, gas-station flowers, clichéd jewelry, lingerie, and George Foreman grills. Hold the hooker outfits, Honey, this year we're looking for edible confections, not underwear.

Our quest for the Valley's best Valentine's Day treat starts at Barb's Bakery.

When we asked Barb's to give us their top three Valentine's Day goodies, we received a red velvet cupcake, a pink champagne cupcake, and a cookie in the shape of a flower (and covered in orange, light blue, or light green icing on the petals). While the cookie and red velvet cupcake were lackluster in flavor, we were totally taken with the unique taste of the pink champagne cupcake. Moist, delicate, and topped with a light, creamy frosting, the pink champagne cupcakes from Barb's are what we're using to toast to the first leg of our Valentine's Day treat quest. And at just $1.75 a piece, it's cheaper than a bottle of Dom Perignon and won't give you hiccups.
