27: Lee's Combination Sandwich from Lee's Sandwiches
We couldn't be more pleased that bahn mi, tasty Vietnamese baguette sandwiches, are starting to appear across the valley. But you never forget a first love, and for that reason Lee's Sandwiches will always hold a special place in our hearts. The Vietnamese-French fusion present in Lee's Combination Sandwich is the standard against which we judge all other bahn mi, for better or worse, we will always love you Lee's.
The O.G. bahn mi (in our minds anyway) is the Lee's Combo. One freshly baked baguette packed with thin-sliced head cheese, pork liver pate, and ham. This salt-bomb is then topped with pickled carrots, radishes, jalapenos, cilantro and some sort of delicious special sauce that makes us drool just thinking about it. If head cheese and pate freak you out, screw up your courage and give it a shot. This sandwich is the perfect balance of tart and sweet, salty and savory.
