We're about to launch head first into the holiday season, which means lots of hours-long family dinners and events where we all stuff ourselves silly with food and drink. In keeping with that theme, we'd like you to know that the fifth annual Mac & Cheese Throwdown, hosted by Girl Meets Fork Marketing & Media and Diya Marketing, is just around the corner.

This year's cheesy competition will be held at House of Comedy at High Street (formerly City North) and will feature macaroni and cheese creations from 12 local restaurants and chefs. Best of all, if you go, you get to eat as much of it as you can.

This year's preliminary lineup includes:

Michael O'Dowd, Urban Vine Mel Mecinas, Talavera Sadhana Raj, 24 Carrots John Cruz, Social Box Neighborhood Eatery Richard Garcia, Café ZuZu Stephen K. Eldridge, Pink Pony John Collura, Cibo e Vino Comedian Rick Bronson, House of Comedy

Attendees will get to eat as much mac n' cheese as they want -- or are physically capable of ingesting -- and will also get to see comedian Ben Gleib perform after the throwdown at House of Comedy.

Admission includes one vote for the People's Choice Award, though additional tickets will be available for purchase at the event; proceeds from the People's Choice contest will be donated to a Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation.

A panel of three non-professional judges will also blind judge the competition.

Tickets to the event, which is 21 and over only, cost $22. Doors open at 4 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased on the Girl Meets Fork website.
