One of the latest food trends is food in a mason jar. Usually you'll find a cupcake stuffed in that jar, but we wanted to go back to college after finding this story about college students ordering pre-assembled mason jar or home cooked meals delivered directly to their dorm room door.
George Washington University student Cristina Roman is taking student dining to another level. She started GW Bites which she calls a "micro-enterprise" to help bring together students who cook with students who either can't or don't want to cook. GW Bites currently offers: Weekly Home-Cooked Meals, "Meals in a Jar" (pre-portioned budget meals that still require cooking), juices called "sips" and Classes/Consulting.
Now GW students at all budget and skill levels have another way to get a healthful meal in their bellies. Roman has this quote at the top of her site that we think sums up her motivation and we couldn't agree more:
"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."
- Virginia Woolf.
It appears that Roman is currently studying Sociology, we woudn't be surprised if she transfers to culinary school with all the positive student reviews.
