In an ongoing Twitter exchange, celebrated Momofuku chef David Chang (whose pastry chef visited our fair city recently), has challenged Roots drummer Questlove to a fried chicken showdown on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Chang has already stated his terms. If Questlove wins, Chang will both serve Questlove's chicken at Momofuku and feature it prominently in Chang's own quarterly publication, Lucky Peach. If Chang wins, he demands that Questlove submit to wearing a chicken suit on Jimmy Fallon's show. Questlove promptly accepted Chang's challenge, and the trash talking began in earnest.

Presumably this is in response to the early buzz surrounding Questlove's most recent venture, a fried chicken food truck concept which was recently recognized in Bon Apetit. Chang's Momofuku is both famous and notorious for it's "Fried Chicken Dinner," a pedestrian sounding meal that is so popular it requires a special reservations and its own FAQ.

While the public hasn't had a chance to weigh in on Questlove's fried chicken he hasn't shied away from setting his sights high. His stated goal is to make fried chicken "the new cupcake."
