Driving down Indian school we spot a red sign that says: Lunch $6.49. It's waving outside Thai E-San restaurant so we pull over to give it a try.
When we first sit down we feel a little silly because the tables are quite substantial and round. But the place is not too busy so we spread out and quickly order Thai iced-tea. It comes to the table delicious and sweet and a gorgeous orangey color.
There are 14 items to choose from on the lunch menu from Pad-Thai to Spicy Sweet Basil but we zero in on the Red Curry, which comes with coconut milk, bamboo shoots, green bean, basil and Thai eggplant.
The lunch specials also come with a cup of soup, today's was a tasty chicken and rice.
When the meal arrived it was a pretty plate of food with an egg roll and fried wontons on the side. The curry had a wonderful flavor - the right balance between the coconut milk, spicy chili and fresh basil.
The décor is a little clumsy but the food tasted fresh and made to order. We had to ask for a to-go box for the leftovers. Just bring a pal or two to help fill up one of those round tables. There's room for your whole crew.
The lunch special is Monday through Friday, 11:00-3:00.
