19: The Combo Plate from El Pollo Supremo
El Pollo Supremo earns its name in our opinion, because this hole-in-the-wall Tempe chicken and beef joint is as supreme as it gets. There are only two things on the menu: chicken or beef. Mounds of achiote-marinated chicken are cooked to crisp perfection on the grill, along with carne asada that is also pretty damn supremo. When we get a hankerin' for a juicy carnivorous feast, we swing by El Pollo Supremo for their Combo Platter packed with chicken, beef, and all the tasty sides.
El Pollo Supremo's Combo Plate is packed with half a roasted chicken, a huge mound of carne asada, and plenty of tortillas on the side. This alone would make for a stellar feast, but El Pollo Supremo also tosses in some of the best pintos, marinated purple onions, and salsa bandera we've ever had. Add a bit of everything for perfect DIY tacos and burritos, or skip the "filler" and eat it straight by the forkful. Either way, you win.
