Top Chef Brian Malarkey's Scottsdale Restaurant, Searsucker, Names Executive Chef
Top Chef Brian Malarkey has said whichever local chef is hired to head up the second location of Searsucker, his restaurant of new-American cuisine in Scottsdale, will need to "direct his own vibe" and interpret dishes accordingly.
Now, with the announcement of the Scottsdale Searsucker's new executive chef, it looks like Malarkey has found his "chops." More specifically, Steve "Chops" Smith.
According to the Republic, Smith, who was last consulting for Kelly's at SouthBridge in Scottsdale and whose resume also includes gigs at Different Pointe of View, Noca, St. Francis, Olive & Ivy, and the defunct Furio and Luc's, has been hired as executive chef for Malarkey's Searsucker in Scottsdale.
Smith's new 9,500-square-foot home (formerly the lobby of the Camelback Tower office building next to Scottsdale Fashion Square on Camelback Road), the Republic reports, is slated to open Monday, October 22.
