Top Five Phoenix Food Stories of the Week
Every week, there's a cornucopia of Phoenix food news, features, and reviews to report here at Chow Bella. If you're like most people, you probably just don't have the time to get to all of it. So, here's a recap of some of the top stories from the week that you may have missed.
When Arcadia's Cave & Ives Portico Grill shuttered in April, it didn't take long for a new project, called The Attic, to take the place of the two-year-old Mediterranean-inspired restaurant from owners and brothers Cary and Ivan Morrow (Sacks Art of Sandwicherie) -- in fact, it took one day.
Who asked for these? Did you? I'm pretty sure I didn't.
Whether it's a bad breakup, a morning board meeting, or a late night of drinking, there are moments when doughnuts simply call to us. Try as we might, when this deep-fried fusion of sugar and dough speaks our name, nothing else will do -- not muffins, not croissants, and sure as hell not bagels. So when self-restraint breaks down and your inner child tells you to live a little, where do you go and what do you get?

Chef Jared Porter is going from artisan pizzas to noodles and dumplings with a twist.
The executive chef of the Parlor, the gourmet pizzeria in Central Phoenix owned by father-and-son-team Dan and Aric Mei (the two also own Nello's in Ahwatukee), is leaving his home of four years on September 1 to start a new venture -- and he's taking his sous chef, Joe Absolor, with him.
