Doughnut, meet ice cream.

Thank Safeway for the official demise of the Cronut trend, which took all of five seconds to be replaced by the burger trend (see: ramen burger, Umami Burger), which is slowly but surely being replaced by an obsession with doughnuts. And now, we can thank Southern California's Umami Burger for a treat that combines more culinary trends then we know what to do with.
Introducing the Doughnut Ice Cream Sandwich.
All 15 Southern California locations of Umami Burger are now serving up doughnut ice cream sandwiches made with entirely L.A. ingredients. They're using doughnuts from Stan's Donuts in Westwood and ice cream from L.A. Creamery. Each of the creations costs $6.

And while the whole junk food mash-up thing is getting a bit old, we're not ready to write off these babies just yet. Afterall, they sound a hell of a lot better than fired ice cream cheese burgers and spaghetti ice cream.
